Easter Apple Hunt

March 15, 2008 (Raindate: March 22, 2008)

Dash for apples in the Easter Hay Maze; Visit with the Easter Bunny; Enjoy a FREE Magic Show; Hop onboard for a Horse-Drawn Wagon Ride! Children ages 1-10 years may participate.

Save the date for Connecticut's Only Easter Apple Hunt! More than 15,000 apples are hidden in our Hay Maze, just waiting to be discovered! Children may keep all the apples they find. (Some are designated for prizes!) Bags for collecting apples are provided.

The fun continues even after the Hunt! Enjoy a hotdog or snack at our Outdoor Concessions. Try our new Hot Apple Pie Sundaes -- there's nothing like it anywhere in Connecticut!

Don't miss a special Cherry Pie Workshop for kids, scheduled at 3:00pm. All children must be pre-registered for this activity; $8.00 workshop fee. Space is limited and our workshops fill quickly. Register in person at the Apple Barrel prior to the day of the event, or call (860) 349-6043.


All children must be registered to participate in the Apple Hunt. Registration forms are available in the Apple Barrel market, or register online.

Horse Drawn Wagon Rides: 9am-1pm
Apple Barrel Deck & Field Food Concessions Open: 10am-2pm
Free Magic Show with Jonathan Jacques: 1pm (time approx.)
Cherry Pie Workshop for Kids: 3pm. Workshop fee: $8.00. Workshop reservations accepted after February 1. Call: 860/349-6043.

Orchard Bloom

Late April, early May, 2008

One of the most spectacular periods of the year on our farm occurs long before it's fruit picking time. Come visit us during Fruit Blossom time, usually between late April and early May. Enjoy the fragrance of apple, pear, and peach blossoms as they blanket our orchard hills, acre after acre of beautiful pink and white blossoms. This is an ideal time to schedule a group visit to our orchards.

Children's Apple Pie Workshop!

Children love pie-making as much as pie-eating! This interactive, hands-on workshop is taught by our bakers, and teaches children the elements of making delicious apple pies from scrach. Workshop reservations accepted after March 1, 2008.

Connecticut Day!

Did you know that some of the finest foods in New England are made right here in Connecticut? Come celebrate Connecticut foods, beverages, and history! Enjoy a taste of Connecticut, pony rides, and fun activities for all ages.

9am - 6pm: Food Sampling in the Apple Barrel

11am - 4pm: Outdoor Deck Concessions Open;
Enjoy hotdogs, ice cream, apple pie, and more!

12 Noon - 3pm: Pony Rides for Kids!(available weather permitting)

12 Noon - 4pm: Live Music on our Deck!
Enjoy the great country/rock and bluegrass sound of the Monthei Brothers Band!
(Performance available weather permitting)

1pm: Designer Fudge Apple Workshop for Kids!
Children will enjoy this fun, hands-on workshop, first dipping a Lyman apple into rich, sweet and creamy fudge, then decorating with delicious, colorful toppings. Pre-registration requaired; call 860/349-6043. Workshop fee per child: $8.

Mother's Day Workshop (for Kids!)

Mom will love receiving a specially decorated cake from the apple of her eye! This fun children's workshop teaches the art of cake-decorating, and more! Two sessions: 11am & 1pm. Workshop fee: $8.00. Reservations accepted after April 1, 2008. Call 860/349-6043.


Frisbee Golf

Open daily 9am-5pm. Fun for all ages and skill levels, from beginners to advanced players. Just like golf, scores are determined by the number of throws from tee to target on the green. We provide scorecards and Frisbees, or use your own Frisbee, if you prefer.
Frisbee Golf is an excellent team building activity, and a fun group activity for children and adults alike.


Jaguar Club Car Show!

Sunday, June 8, 2008; 9am-4pm.

Enjoy viewing these beautiful luxury cars up close! Presented by the Jaguar Club of Southern New England, prizes will be awarded to best cars in show.

Strawberry Jam Making Demonstration!

Sunday, June 8, 2008; 1pm

Learn how to make delicious strawberry jam and preserves from local expert, Phyllis Naples-Valenti of Durham, CT. Well known for supervising the canning department at the Durham Fair, Phyllis offers hints and tips for successful jam-making, including delicious variations on traditional recipes.
