Lyman Orchards to Host Sixth Annual “World’s Largest Golf Outing” Monday, August 1, to Raise Money for Fisher House

Red, White and Blue pies on sale with proceeds also benefitting the foundation

What: Lyman Orchards’ world-class Robert Trent Jones, Sr. and  Gary Player Golf Courses will be home to the Sixth Annual “World’s Largest Golf Outing” (WLGO) on Monday, August 1, 2016, to benefit Fisher House. This event, the brainchild of CEO of Billy Casper Golf Peter Hill, will feature more than 13,000 golfers playing simultaneously on roughly 125 courses around the country.

The WLGO was designed to help make a difference in the lives of injured service men and women of America’s Armed Forces. Proceeds from the day will go to benefit Fisher House, a network of comfort homes located at major military and Veteran’s Affairs (VA) hospitals nationwide where veteran’s families can stay at no cost while a loved one is receiving treatment. Featuring essentials such as kitchen and laundry facilities, Fisher House has saved military and veteran’s families an estimated $320 million in out-of-pocket costs for lodging and transportation.

All WLGO events are an 18-hole scramble and the registration fee includes a $10 per player donation to Fisher House, greens fees, shared cart, warm-up bucket, barbeque lunch, tote, hat, towel, golf ball, divot tool and local prizes. There will be an award ceremony following completion of play.

Registration fees are as follows:

  • $300 – Foursome
  • $150 – Twosome
  • $75 – Single

It is estimated that more than 325 golfers will attend the 2016 World’s Largest Golf Outing at Lyman Orchards. Last year, Lyman Orchards hosted the largest number of participants and was number five in dollars raised, nationwide.

In anticipation of the event, Lyman Orchards will be selling Red, White and Blue pies in the Apple Barrel. $1 from every pie sold between July 1st and the WLGO will be donated to Fisher House. Often called the “Patriotic Pie,” these treats are filled with mouthwatering layers of cherries, apples and blueberries and are the perfect dessert for summertime picnics.
