Lyman Orchards Presents More Than $3,500 to Middlesex Hospital Comprehensive Breast Cancer Center

MIDDLEFIELD, CT (Nov. 7, 2016) On Wednesday Nov. 2, 2016, Lyman Orchards presented Middlesex Hospital with checks totaling more than $3,500 from two events the 275-year-old farm hosted during Breast Cancer Awareness Month. On Oct. 4, more than 40 women gathered on the Gary Player Signature Design course in the inaugural Putt Fore Pink golf tournament.

Then, on Oct. 15, guests had the opportunity to paint, glitter and bejewel their pumpkin. Both events benefited the Comprehensive Breast Center at Middlesex Hospital.

According to the National Breast Cancer Foundation, Breast Cancer is the most common cancer among women worldwide and one in eight women will develop the ailment in their lifetime. Every two minutes, a woman is diagnosed with breast cancer in America. However, if detected early, breast cancer has a 98 percent five-year survival rate.

“We at Lyman Orchards are honored to present these checks to the Comprehensive Breast Center at Middlesex Hospital,” said, John Lyman III, executive vice president, Lyman Orchards. “Our guests really stepped up this year to support those affected by Breast Cancer by participating in the Putt Fore Pink Golf Tournament and our Paint the Pumpkin Pink event.”

During Paint the Pumpkin Pink, representatives from Middlesex Hospital were on-site to speak with guests about the importance of early detection and to answer questions. In four years, Paint the Pumpkin Pink has raised $5,445.50 for Middlesex Hospital’s Comprehensive Breast Center.
