Who: The biggest stars of late-season apples have arrived at Lyman Orchards. Enjoy varieties such as Red Delicious, Fuji, Cortland, Crispin, and Jonagold. But wait! There’s more: Granny Smiths are coming soon!
What: Enjoy fall’s peak season with your favorite fruits! Apples are rich in fiber, disease-fighting antioxidants and a variety of vitamins and minerals. Folks can enjoy a beautiful day on the farm picking apples and pumpkins, and can stop by the Apple Barrel farm market for Connecticut-grown produce, fruit from the orchards, freshly baked goods, and a custom-made lunch.
When: Late-Season varieties are available for Pick Your Own right now. PYO is open every day from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Where: Lyman Orchards, 32 Reeds Gap Rd, Middlefield, Conn.
Why: Enjoy a beautiful fall day on the farm. After apple-picking, visitors can get lost in our annual corn maze. This year’s theme is Charles Lindbergh’s famous Spirit of St. Louis, the single-engine plane he piloted solo in 1927 on the first, nonstop transatlantic flight. One dollar from each admission will be donated to the American Cancer Society. Visitors can soar through this four-acre corn maze, which is actually taller than the iconic airplane itself. The Corn Maze is open Wednesdays through Fridays, from 3-6 p.m.; weekends and holidays from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
