MIDDLEIELD, Conn. (March 16, 2016) - In anticipation of a year filled with festivities surrounding its 275th anniversary, Lyman Orchards is set to open for the season on Saturday, March 19, with a refreshed Apple Barrel market, the introduction of a new logo commemorating its 275th anniversary and a host of fun events to celebrate this significant milestone.
Lyman Orchards’ Apple Barrel market has become one of Connecticut’s premiere destinations for wholesome family fun, locally grown fruit and Connecticut-made specialties. During the off-season, the market underwent a variety of renovations to further enhance the customer experience. When the Apple Barrel reopens guests will be able to enjoy one of Lyman Orchards’ award-winning pies, sip on fresh-pressed cider, or treat themselves to a tasty sandwich at the deli, all while enjoying the updated ambience of the new market.
“We’ve made some improvements to the Apple Barrel with a strong focus on customer experience,” said Steve Ciskowski, President and CEO, Lyman Orchards. “We’ve expanded our menu to include more dining options, renovated and expanded the restrooms, updated the layout of the store and included more seating options. We think the changes are going to be well-received and offer the best possible experience when visiting this season.”
Prior to visiting the newly-renovated Apple Barrel, all guests are encouraged to sign-up for the new Sweet Rewards Card to receive special discounts every time you shop and exclusive programs and promotions.
Delivering the authentic New England experience its guests have become accustomed to, Lyman Orchards is also emphasizing an increased focus on providing local products. Customers of the Apple Barrel can expect to find special and unique items that have been crafted by some of the region’s best artisans.
In addition to popular annual events such as the Spring Apple Hunt, Sunflower Maze and Corn Maze, the Farm’s 275th anniversary will be celebrated throughout the year with numerous special events commemorating the family’s remarkable history. A new official 275th anniversary logo, created exclusively to commemorate the family’s legacy and stewardship of its 1,100 acre farm will be displayed throughout the property, and will be associated with all facets of the 275th anniversary celebrations.
Since 1741, Lyman Orchards has been an integral part of the Connecticut Valley farming landscape. “This is a significant milestone not only for the Lyman family and the business, but for all of our visitors,” said John Lyman III, Executive Vice President, Lyman Orchards. “We’ve remained committed throughout the years to offer authentic, wholesome New England fun in the heart of Connecticut. We thank the community and all of our visitors for their past support, and we look forward to creating many fond memories in the years ahead here at Lyman Orchards.”
