Middlefield, Conn. — May 24, 2018 — Lyman Orchards celebrates Memorial Day with red, white and blue (pie).
Not only is Memorial Day weekend the unofficial summer season kickoff, it’s also the beginning of Lyman Orchards’ official homage to the Red, White and Blue. Lyman’s is celebrating summer by kicking it off in pie spirits, serving up freshly-baked, patriotic Red, White and Blue Pies.
Lyman Orchards will donate $1 from each Red, White and Blue Pie sold from Memorial Day through July 4 to the Fisher House Foundation of West Haven, Connecticut. Fisher House builds comfort homes -- located at military and VA medical centers around the world -- where military and veterans families can stay free of charge while a loved one is hospitalized. Since its inception, the program has saved military and veterans’ families an estimated $407 million in out of pocket costs for lodging and transportation.
Lyman Orchards' Red, White and Blue Pie is a perfect dessert for summertime picnics and all-year round. This all-American pie is filled with mouthwatering layers of cherries, apples and blueberries. All Lyman Orchards’ fruit pies are hand-made using only the finest ingredients on its 1,100 acre farm in Middlefield, CT. They were voted best pie by Connecticut Magazine in 2017.
Visitors to Lyman Orchards and the Apple Barrel should save room for more red, white and blue offers throughout the summer. Lyman Orchards be providing more opportunities to donate to The Fisher House Foundation, including participating in the World's Largest Golf Outing at Lyman Orchards Golf Club on Monday, August 5th.
