Pick Your Own Strawberry Orchards

Pick Your Own Strawberries are officially closed for the 2025 season. Stay tuned for opening 2026!

Looking for the best strawberry picking Connecticut has to offer? Lyman Orchards is a top destination for Pick Your Own (PYO) strawberries. Strawberries are one of the first Pick Your Own fruits of the season, along with honeyberries starting in mid-June and lasting until early July.

Strawberries are a delicious source of potassium, Vitamin C, fiber and high levels of antioxidants. Strawberries are also sodium-free, fat-free, cholesterol-free, and a low-calorie food  - 55 calories per cup! We grow many different varieties of strawberries, selected for their flavor and ability to withstand Connecticut soil and weather conditions.

Strawberry picking is a great family-friendly activity, however the season doesn't last forever, so get out while the picking is good!

Come to Lyman Orchards for some fun and pick your own strawberries!  Please be sure to call our Pick-Your-Own Hotline at 860-349-6015 for the latest picking conditions and updates, or check out our Facebook page for daily updates.

Pick Your Own Strawberry Pricing for 2025:

$8.00 for a quart container

$31.00 for a four-quart container

$60.00 for a tray container

Season

Early June - Early July

Choosing

Look for vibrant red strawberries, with few green or white areas. The caps and berries should look fresh and clean. Berries should be plump. The size of the berries differs with the variety and is not a sign of flavor or quality.

Ripening

Strawberries, unlike many other fruits, do not ripen after they are picked. So, be sure to pick only the berries that are brightly colored red, and fully matured.

Storing

Strawberries are very perishable; handle gently. Protect berries from direct sunlight, especially when traveling in the car for a long time. Store in a cool place and rinse berries just before use. Remove stems after berries are washed. Use the ripest berries first.

Freezing

Simply wash and drain well on paper towel. Place in freezer on cookie sheet single layered. After frozen, store in containers.
