You are cordially invited to the Lyman Homestead to visit, observe or sew with ladies from The Historic Sewing Circle on Sunday, March 3rd from 1pm-4pm.
The Historic Sewing Circle consists of women from all over Connecticut who are passionate about creating Victorian Era garments using historically accurate sewing techniques. These ladies come dressed in period closing from the late 1700s into the early 1800s Regency, mid and late Victorian, and Edwardian to mid 20th century.
Enjoy a complimentary Lyman Orchards Cider Donut Hole while you learn and ask questions about their sewing projects as you watch, or sew with them! Each lady brings their own unique sewing project - you never know what historic item they are going to be sewing!
This event is free and open to the public.
House tours are not available during the event.
Location: The Lyman Homestead, 3 Lyman Road, Middlefield.
About the Historic Sewing Circle:
The Historic Sewing Circle was established to bring together sewists who create pre 1960s garments. These garments are used for hobbyists, performers, re-enactors, costumers and others. They meet primarily to do hand sewing, using historically correct sewing techniques, mostly with modern implements. On occasion they use authentic tools of the trade. They like to meet at various historical locations around the state and they like to dress in their period garments and chat with the public as they are sewing.
