Pick Your Own Apple Orchards

Lyman Orchards Pick Your Own Apple Orchards are closed for the 2024 season. Stay tuned for opening dates for 2025!

Please be sure to call our Pick-Your-Own Hotline at 860-349-6015 for the latest picking conditions and updates, or check out our Facebook page for daily updates. Please note that since we had an early Spring this year, we are expecting our apple season to end around late October. Picking will also be more in the back of the rows, there will be more walking to find apples.

Our Pick Your Own Apple trees are nestled on 200 acres of  Pick Your Own fruit orchards and fields overlooking the scenic Connecticut River Valley. We have one of the largest apple orchards in Connecticut. It's no wonder why Lyman Orchards was voted Connecticut's Best Pick Your Own Farm and one of the Top 10 Apple Picking Spots in the United States!

Season

Early August - Mid November

Storing

Apples stay crisp and fresh for weeks if kept cold and moist. For best results, store them in a vegetable crisper or plastic bag in your refrigerator. Kept at room temperature, apples ripen 10 times faster than when kept in cold storage. Before storing, remove any apples that are bruised and use them immediately. Do not store apples near strong odors, as the odors may affect the taste of the apples. To avoid bruising, handle your apples very carefully...as if they were eggs!

Freezing

Core, peel and slice apples. Dip slices into lemon juice to prevent browning, and pack into freezer-proof containers. Applesauce also freezes well.
