Lyman Orchards Press Release

Lyman Orchards' Golf offers Young Golfers a Chance to Grab a Ticket to the Masters Tournament

Who: Lyman Orchards' Golf presents the Drive, Chip and Putt, a Junior PGA qualifying competition taking place Thursday, July 5. This event, with over 180 participants, is the largest of its kind in the state, and Lyman’s Golf Center -- Connecticut’s premier golf training facility -- is the perfect location.

What: Drive, Chip and Putt is a free nationwide junior golf development competition aimed at growing the game by focusing on the three fundamental skills employed in golf: the drive, the chip and the putt. The regional champions in each of division will advance to the finals held at Augusta National the Sunday before The Masters in April 2019. There are four age groups each for boys and girls: 7-9, 10-11, 12-13 and 14-15.

When: Thursday, July 5, 2018, beginning at 8 a.m.

Where: Lyman Orchards’ Golf Center, 700 Main Street, Middlefield, Conn.

Why: By tapping the creative and competitive spirit of girls and boys ages 7-15, Drive, Chip and Putt provides aspiring junior golfers an opportunity to play with their peers in qualifiers throughout the country. Participants who advance through local, sub-regional and regional qualifying in each age/gender category earn a place in the National Finals, which is conducted at Augusta National Golf Club the Sunday before the Masters Tournament and is broadcast live by Golf Channel.
