Middlefield, CT - Lyman Orchards' Pick for Pink fundraiser is off to a strong start, with visitors picking more than 9 tons of pumpkins during the first weekend of October in support of the Middlesex Health Comprehensive Breast Center.
Throughout weekends and holidays in October, Lyman Orchards is donating 2.85 cents for every pound of pumpkins picked at its Pick Your Own Pumpkin fields to Middlesex Health Comprehensive Breast Center as part of the farm's Pick for Pink fundraiser.
The donation amount is a special nod to Lyman Orchards' 285th anniversary in 2026. With more than 9 tons, or 18,000 pounds, of pumpkins already picking during the first weekend, the fundraiser has generated more than $500 in donations so far.
"We have a bountiful pumpkin crop this year and we look forward to a strong turnout to support the great work at Middlesex Health," said John Lyman III, Executive Vice President of Lyman Orchards.
Pick for Pink will continue on weekends and Columbus Day in October. Visitors can pick their own pumpkins, enjoy the fall season and help support breast health care in the local community.
Lyman Orchards is also supporting cancer-related causes through its seasonal corn maze this fall. A portion of corn maze ticket proceeds will benefit the American Cancer Society and the Connecticut Cancer Foundation.
Pumpkins are priced by size:
The Pick for Pink fundraiser applies to pumpkins picked at Lyman Orchards' Pick Your Own locations. The pumpkin fields are located at 105 South Street in Middlefield. Visitors should follow the signs along the side of the road for the designated parking location, as field locations may vary by day.
In addition to pumpkin picking, visitors can enjoy a variety of seasonal activities throughout the farm, including the corn maze, pick your own Apples, Apple Barrel Farm Market and other fall favorites.
