Middlefield, CT — Lyman Orchards, a popular family-owned New England destination for over 280 years, announces that July 30 is the opening day for its 2022 Sunflower Maze. This year, 350,000 yellow, orange, and red blooming sunflowers are crafted into a design featuring Daniel Tiger's Neighborhood®, the beloved preschooler animated series produced by The Fred Rogers Company. According to CPTV, the series-which marks its tenth on-air anniversary this year-is one of the most-watched programs on PBS KIDS. The opening day Ribbon-Cutting Ceremony at the Sunflower Maze will feature daylong guest appearances by Daniel Tiger himself, as well as free cut sunflowers to the first 50 visitors! The Maze is scheduled to run from July 30 through August 28 and is open daily from 9am-4:30pm. Admission is $10 for adults and $6 for ages 4-12. Children under 3 years are admitted free of charge. One dollar of every admission goes to support Connecticut Children's, the only health system in Connecticut dedicated exclusively to the care of children. Since 2007, Lyman Orchards Sunflower Maze has raised over $162,000 to support patients and their families seen in Connecticut Children's Division of Hematology/Oncology. "We take special pride in our annual Maze-related campaign to collect donations that support the pioneering, life-changing work at Connecticut Children's" states Lyman Orchards Executive Vice President John Lyman. "It's a great honor to be able to touch the lives of children battling cancer, and do so in a way that provides lots of playful fun for families visiting Lyman Orchards."
